Carolina Top 10 Builders: Windswept Carolina Beach, NCPublished Before January of 2006 NESTLED AMONG ROWS OF PALM TREES
and caressed by soft summer salt
breezes, just a seashell’s throw from
Snow’s Cut Bridge in New Hanover
County, North Carolina, is a neighborhood
that offers the feel of the
beach in affordable style.
Windswept, offered by Atlantic
Shores Real Estate and SECOF
Construction, is located off Carolina
Beach Road, just a few miles
from the sands of Carolina Beach
and a short drive from town and
shopping. The planned community
offers seven distinct floor plans from
which to choose, priced from the low
$200,000s to the mid-$200,000s.
“Windswept offers great values.
It really is beach living without the
beach prices,” explains John Query
of Atlantic Shores Real Estate. “In
addition, because the neighborhood
is located outside the Wilmington
city limits, residents don’t have to
pay the expenses associated with
living in the city.”
All Windswept homes have three
bedrooms, two full bathrooms and
two-car garages, but there are several
options from which to choose. The
homes range from just more than
1,300 square feet to just under
1,900 square feet. With home plans
such as the Key West, the Key Largo,
the Marathon and the Islamorada,
buyers might imagine that they
are purchasing a time share on an
island paradise rather than building
a home in New Hanover County.
The Caribbean flair stretches way
beyond the names of the plans,
however. The homes feature island
accents such as tin over the porches
and vinyl siding in exotic colors,
and Caribbean-inspired elevation
gives Windswept a feel of living
a million miles away, on the type
of island usually described only in
travel brochures.
Buyers have the option to customize
their home by choosing the cabinets,
colors and flooring, as well as
by adding upgrades such as stainless
appliances, a fireplace, built-in audio
systems and nine-foot or vaulted
ceilings. The lighted sidewalks and
the palm-lined streets add a sense of
community, fun and safety to Windswept
not always seen in neighborhoods
in this price range.
Windswept is designed to have a
total of 83 homes when all construction
is complete.
“When the first phase of 40 lots
was released, they sold out in only
three days,” Query says. “With each
additional release of lots, offers come
in very quickly. It’s a great neighborhood,
and people want to live there.”
With the feel of the islands in the
neighborhood, the beach just down
the street and the convenience of a
major city nearby, it’s no surprise that
people are attracted to Windswept.
